selling to sports event rights holders sometimes requires
some very specialized knowledge. In this session for convention
bureau, sports commission and hotel sales people who are new
to the industry, even the most basic questions regarding the
sports-related travel market will be welcome as topics of
discussion.

"Repositioning a Destination as Sports Friendly"
Establishing
a destination that’s seen as hospitable to sporting
events can involve the need to develop a sports infrastructure
that includes venues appropriate for hosting sporting events.
Oftentimes, a combination of public and private financing
is required. In this session, a case study will be presented
as the basis of a discussion on how your destination can be
repositioned to attract more sports-related travel.

event security in the post-9/11 era is a real and expensive
concern for event organizers and event hosts alike. In this
session, sensible, cost-effective security measures will be

at their events and minimize their legal liability given the
litigious era in which we live.
