Inside Track

The United States Disabled Open Golf Championship is open to players with physical and intellectual impairments and is held in May each year. The event will be divided into a couple of divisions and awards will be given in each. Golfers with various impairments such as amputations, blindness, Cerebral Palsy, MS and more will compete. There is a $5,000 host fee and a commitment to solicit $20,000 annually in local sponsors is crucial to the event’s success. There are up to 100 golfers with support/caddies on hand for the four-day event that includes three days of competition. Flat courses are preferred and bunkers should be accessible to carts, along with Soloriders and Paragolfers permitted on greens. For more information, contact Jason Faircloth at info@usdga.net or by phone at 910-214-5983.
