2024, 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships
The world’s premier footrace for the world’s toughest runners. The best five runners from each country in any distance (ranging from 1,500m to marathon) typically participate, making this one of the most competitive races in the world to win. It includes five official world championships races, as well as the World Master’s Championships. In the past, races have been held on a single day, but World Athletics will work with hosts on expanding the program to cover more days. It offers an excellent opportunity to showcase a destination’s unique landscape to tourists, as well as promoting the emerging concept of ‘green exercise’ amongst the local and national population.
