The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit will undergo a $30 million renovation project in February 2014.
The project will transform the property’s 1,329 guest rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space and take approximately one year to complete. Reconstruction and renovations will take place a few floors at a time, allowing the 70-floor hotel to remain open for the duration of the project.
“We’re energized by the current revival of Detroit and excited to be a big part of it by making a $30 million investment in a landmark property that welcomes visitors from around the globe to our amazing city,” said Shonda Johnson, Area General Manager of the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. “Like Detroit, we’re undergoing our own rebirth of an original icon.”
The design will feature a unique look created specifically for the Detroit Marriott, incorporating the look and feel of the city and region into its rooms and meeting spaces. The renovation will also bring several amenities, including technological updates and room furnishings.
