With less than 50 days until the 2022 Olympic Wint With less than 50 days until the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, the U.S. short-track speed skating trials are going on this weekend at the @utaholympicoval in Kearns, Utah, home of the ‘fastest ice on earth.’ The weekend is not only a chance for athletes to qualify for the Olympics, but for a large crowd on Saturday to cheer on the future Olympians and send messages of support to them. Kids were also able to enjoy face painting stations and see the three mascots of the 2002 Salt Lake City Games — Powder, Copper and Coal. #beijing2022 #winterolympics #speedskating #sportstravel

The morning started with welcomes from Tim Schneider and @visitpittsburgh President and CEO Jerad Bachar, followed by CSL’s Tyler Othen presenting the latest research into the #esports industry. Attendees were able to learn about the importance of the future of #esports starting at the grassroots level by @esposure.gg Co-Founder Danny Martin, who was joined by many others on a panel about STEM, Education and the High School esports scene. Those who came to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center also were able to take part in the largest esports marketplace in event history, hear about the latest in esports ventures from @wearepopulous Brian Mirakian, understand the growth of collegiate esports and the restart of in-person esports tournaments and events. We were also joined by Pittsburgh @knights President and Founder James O’Connor plus Daniel Rooney of the Pittsburgh Steelers about their partnership.

The Marriott Center is home to the #BYU Cougars me The Marriott Center is home to the #BYU Cougars men's and women's basketball teams and among the largest on-campus #basketball arenas in the nation. Wednesday’s in-state matchup between the Cougars and Utah State also drew a large contingent of Aggies fans from Logan who made their voice heard throughout, although the hosts came away with the victory in front of its raucous student section. The Marriott Center — named after J. Willard Marriott, founder of the Marriott Corporation — underwent a giant renovation in 2017 with new seating throughout the lower bowl while maintaining some of the historic benches and seating areas in the upper sections.

UBS Arena has opened on Long Island in New York as UBS Arena has opened on Long Island in New York as the new home of the New York Islanders. Opening weekend saw two losses for the home team, but fans seemed excited about the new nearly 19,000-seat digs. The Albergue Olimpico, or Olympic Training Center The Albergue Olimpico, or Olympic Training Center of Puerto Rico, is located about 45 minutes from San Juan. With multiple facilities spread out over 1,500 acres, the complex opened in 1986 and has the capacity to host up to 480 athletes at any time. It also has its own sport and health center and is a home not only for athletes, but it has a series of water parks open to the community. Its facilities have also been restored and renovated since Hurricane Maria came through in 2017 as you can see from how the gymnastics facility looked after Maria to present day.

Replacing Estadio Sixto Escobar, where now the island’s sports hall of fame is located, Estadio Hiram Bithorn is home to the Santurce Crabbers of the Puerto Rico Baseball League. The island’s Sports Hall of Fame has artifacts dating decades with a wall of honor listing every single inductee since 1950’s inaugural class. Home to more than 60 boxing world champions including Iván Calderón, he now works to train the next generation of men’s and women’s world champions. Puerto Rico’s Olympic history is also marked by the gold medal won in 2016 by women’s tennis pro Monica Puig. And no trip is completed without going to see Coliseo Roberto Clemente, named after the legendary baseball Hall of Famer and island icon.
