Sports tourism generated $258 million in economic impact for @DelawareTourism in 2023, with the majority coming from visitor spending and tournament operations, according to an economic impact analysis of sports tourism conducted by Tourism Economics.

The Athens Marathon goes by “The Authentic” for obvious reasons. Running where the marathon began and finishing in the stadium of the original modern Olympics, participants get a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. But the race is serious business and includes a 10K, a 5K and a 1,200-meter kids race. According to a study by Deloitte, it also brings in 45,000 visitors, half of which have never visited Greece before, fills hotels to 95 percent capacity, creates 18,240 jobs and generates an estimated 7 million Euros to the local economy.
