2022 Esports Awards Enjoy Success in Las Vegas
More than 40 awards were presented to the cream of the Esports crop at Resorts World
Posted On: December 14, 2022 By :The 2022 Esports Awards moved to the bright lights of Las Vegas for the first time as those from the industry gathered at Resorts World on December 13 to honor the best of the best.
The event took place in the theater of the $4.3 billion resort, where Katy Perry has a residence, and was livestreamed around the world.
Eefje ‘Sjokz” Depoortere and Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez handled hosting duties for the event, which was sponsored by Lexus with cars flanking each side of the stage.
More than 40 awards were presented, with Riot Games leading the way, taking home titles for Esports Publisher of the Year, Esports Broadcast/Production Team of the Year and Esports Game of the Year for Valorant. It was a big night for LOUD as well, as it took home honors for Esports Team of the Year and Esports Creative Team of the Year.
PUBG Mobile was voted Esports Mobile Game of the Year and Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag took home the trophy for Esports Personality of the Year. OpTic Gaming scored a win as Esports Organization of the Year, while Hawaii was voted Esports Collegiate Program of the Year and Streamer of the Year went to Ibai Llanos.
“This year we set ambitious goals to make the 2022 Esports Awards a true milestone event with a new location, new awards and extended events offering,” said Michael Ashford, Esports Awards chief executive officer. “I can safely say that we have turned our dreams into a reality. It’s great to see so many people gather to celebrate what has been a truly incredible year. I wanted to say a massive congratulations to all our winners and thank you to everyone that has played a part in this year’s Esports Awards. See you next year.”
The Lifetime Achievement in Esports honors were presented to Dennis ‘Thresh’ Fong, Emil “HeatoN” Christensen, Daniel ‘OGRE1’ Ryan, Tom ‘OGRE2’ Ryan, Morgan Romine, Alexander Garfield and Jason Lake.
