Allison Melangton will transition out of her role as president of the Indiana Sports Corp to become senior vice-president of events for Hulman Motorsports. Ryan Vaughn, the chief of staff for Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, has been appointed to take over the lead position at the state’s sports corporation.

In her new role, Melangton will work under Mark Miles at Hulman Motorsports. The two worked together closely during Indianapolis’ bid for and hosting of the 2012 Super Bowl, with Melangton as president of the host committee and Miles as chairman.

“For more than 20 years, Indiana Sports Corp has been a huge part of my life—professionally and personally,” said Melangton, who was the sixth president since the sports corporation was founded in 1979. “At this point in my life, I have decided to make a professional change. My time at the Sports Corp and with the Super Bowl host committee has allowed me to work alongside the most talented people in our industry on many of the world’s largest sporting events. I’ll leave Indiana Sports Corp with friendships that will last a lifetime and memories I’ll always cherish. At the same time, I’m excited for the opportunity to join Mark Miles and the talented team in executing events at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and for IndyCar.”

Melangton returned to Indiana Sports Corp as president in 2012 after serving as CEO and president of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee since 2008. Melangton also served on the Indiana Sports Corp staff from 1994 through 2008 in several senior leadership roles.

In Vaughn’s role as chief of staff for the Indianapolis mayor, he oversees development and implementation of Indianapolis’ strategic planning initiatives, public policy development, financial security and management of the agency directors and deputy mayors. Vaughn has been involved with the city’s sports and hospitality industries, having served on the boards of Visit Indy, Downtown Indy, the Super Bowl XLVI Host Committee, the Super Bowl LII Bid Committee and the Indiana Host Committee for the 2015 NCAA Final Four.

“Ryan is the ideal choice to lead the next chapter of growth for Indiana Sports Corp,” said Scott Dorsey, Indiana Sports Corp chairman. “His excellent reputation as a community leader, his collaborative style and his vision for the future of Indianapolis and Indiana Sports Corp make him perfectly suited to extend our position as the nation’s preeminent sports commission and enhance the organization’s impact on our communities and youth.”
