Durham Sports Commission Announces New Board Moves
Ryan Craig will lead the organization, succeeding Angelique Stallings
Posted On: July 31, 2026 By :Ryan Craig is the new Chair-Elect of the Durham Sports Commission, the organization announced earlier this month. In addition, Ray Trapp was elected Secretary/Treasurer and Mike Morrell was added to the organization’s Board of Directors for the 2026-27 term.
Craig, a Health and Welfare Consultant with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., succeeds Angelique Stallings and will work alongside her before assuming the role full-time.
Trapp, who joined the board a year ago, succeeds Jonathan Leach, whose term on the Board ended. Trapp is the Vice President of Advancement for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Triad Governor-at-Large Appointee to the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges.
“We couldn’t be more grateful for the service, impact, and influence of outgoing Board member Jonathan Leach,” said current Board Chair Stallings. “His leadership and dedication to the DSC and the community have helped to shape this important work. As I finish my term as Board Chair, I’m looking forward to working alongside Ryan Craig to ensure a smooth leadership transition as he prepares to assume the role. I’m also grateful to have Ray Trapp as one of my most trusted community partners. Together, Ryan and Ray will continue to challenge me to think bigger, and I’m excited about the impact we can make during this transition.”
Morrell is the Vice President of New Partnerships at SportsMedia Technology (SMT).

The DSC was founded in 2016 and is operated by Discover Durham. It is committed to strong leadership and its mission to create economic and social impact for Durham and the surrounding region through sports. Among the events the city has hosted in recent yers are the All-American Women’s Baseball Classic in 2025 and the NAIA Football National Championship in 2025.
