Looking for a place that has a beautiful river, mountains, a central location and sporting events galore? The southern Tennessee city of Chattanooga meets all that criteria and then some. “The destination sells itself,” said Tim Morgan, president of the Chattanooga Sports Committee. “You get to experience the outdoor amenities and also a metropolitan community—all of this is within 10 miles of downtown. It’s the best of both worlds.” The Tennessee River flows through the center of town, and the Appalachian Mountains beckon with hiking, mountain biking and other recreational options. It’s a natural regional hub, roughly a two-hour drive from Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee; Atlanta; and Huntsville and Birmingham, Alabama.
