The full lineup of teams participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States has been confirmed after the conclusion of the final Play-Off Tournaments.

A further six national teams qualified this week through the play-offs (Sweden, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czechia, Türkiye, Congo DR and Iraq), almost four months after the Final Draw took place in Washington, D.C in front of a global audience of millions of people. It also means that the groups and the match schedule for the tournament are now complete, including the confirmed venues and kick-off times.

For the first time, the tournament will feature 104 matches and 48 teams, including 12 groups of four national teams, and a new round-of-32, before a world champion is decided.

In addition, it is the first time that there will be three host nations for a Men’s FIFA World Cup (Canada, Mexico and the United States), with 16 host cities including 11 in the United States alone.

World Cup Groups Confirmed

On June 11, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will begin with Mexico v South Africa in Mexico City, a repeat of the opening match in the 2010 FIFA World Cup that was hosted in South Africa.

The tournament will conclude with the final on July 19 in New York New Jersey.

In some updates to the match schedule, FIFA confirmed that the match between Türkiye and Paraguay on June 19 in San Francisco Bay Area had been moved one hour earlier to begin at 23:00 ET, and that the preceding match between Brazil and Haiti in Philadelphia had been moved 30 minutes earlier to start at 20:30 ET.
