To capitalize on the booming sports tourism trend and the success of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, adventure tour operator G Adventures is launching Away Games, a new series of premium trips designed to bring football/soccer enthusiasts together to celebrate the community, traditions and passion that come with the sport’s culture.

The firm already offers a wide selection of small-group tours, safaris, expeditions to more than 100 countries on all seven continents, but Away Games marks its first entry into the soccer-focused trip market. The new small-group series, available to supporters around the world, will combine live matches with immersive cultural experiences and community spirit, bringing fans together for matchday experiences in Europe’s greatest football cities.

Launching in destinations such as London, Manchester, Madrid and Barcelona, Away Games aims to deliver premium matchday experiences, insider access and cultural immersion without fans having to worry about the stress of planning complex international trips and game-day logistics.

It will begin with more than 30 departures, with the first trips kicking off in October 2026 now that football fixtures have been released. Additional Spanish departures are set to be announced too, pending the confirmation of dates for matches involving teams such as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Removing Complex Travel Barriers

According to G Adventures, attending a dream match overseas can feel out of reach to many fans due to the complexity of securing tickets, navigating unfamiliar destinations and coordinating logistics. Away Games is designed to remove those barriers, offering a seamless premium experience and a ready-made community of like-minded fans.

“At G Adventures, we’ve always believed travel is about human connection, and there are few communities more passionate, emotional and united than football fans,” said Yves Marceau, vice-president of product at G Adventures. “Away Games is about much more than watching a match. It’s about belonging and being part of something bigger. It’s about singing with locals in supporter pubs, celebrating a last-minute goal with fellow travelers after the final whistle, and experiencing a destination through the lens of its football culture.

“We saw an opportunity to create something completely new in the adventure travel space, and we’re incredibly excited to bring fans together in a way only G Adventures can.

“For North American fans, crossing the Atlantic to see a European match is a bucket-list dream. But between navigating tricky secondary ticket markets, planning an entire trip around an unpredictable calendar, and trying to figure out the best supporter pubs to sing along with local fans, it can be incredibly stressful.

“With Away Games, we’ve completely removed that friction. We’re giving fans guaranteed, verified tickets to the world’s most electric rivalries, combined with the small-group local immersion G Adventures does best. It’s not just about watching a game; it’s about stepping directly into a global community and experiencing matchday like a local.”

Formats

Each Away Games trip is led by a football-loving G Adventures Chief Experience Officer (CEO), whose passion for the sport helps unite the group and bring the local football culture to life.

On matchday, fans will enjoy VIP club-level seating, premium lounge access and hospitality packages while also gaining access to iconic stadiums such as Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, the homes of Manchester United and Chelsea FC.

Beyond the main event, itineraries dive deeper into sports heritage and local culture. Travelers will go behind-the-scenes with historic stadium tours, join guided journeys through supporter pubs, and explore each city’s culinary hotspots on local food tours.

The trips will also feature lower-league match experiences for supporters to experience the true roots of the game. Free time is built in too, enabling travelers to soak up the atmosphere of the city beyond the stadium.
