Have you been to North Carolina’s Emerald City? Greenville, N.C. is widely recognized as the thriving cultural, educational, economic, and medical hub of Eastern North Carolina, and is the perfect place to plan your next tournament. If you are looking for a place with big city amenities that still offers small town charm and affordability, then this is the place for you.

No-Stress Accessibility

Getting here is a breeze. Greenville is centrally located in Eastern North Carolina, a short drive away from the Outer Banks and Crystal Coast, as well as more urban areas such as Research Triangle Park. The city is just east of I-95, connected directly by I-587, and only a few hours away from many major cities such as Charlotte, Atlanta, Richmond and D.C. The Pitt-Greenville Airport (PGV) has daily short non-stop flights to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT), making it the perfect airport for no-stress travel. Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is also just a short 1.5-hour drive away. Both airports can connect you easily to anywhere in the world.

Always Something to Do

Your next step will be figuring out what to do once you get to Greenville, and lucky for you there are endless things to do in the city. The beautiful and walkable Downtown District features 40 restaurants, cafes and breweries. Just blocks away from the heart of downtown is the Town Common, a 20-acre green space with breathtaking views along the riverwalk of the Tar River. Visitors enjoy connecting here to the Greenville Greenway System that features over nine miles of paved trails that wind along the river and throughout the city. The Town Common is home to numerous community events throughout the year, and weekly live music concerts in the summer months.

Hit the water and rent kayaks or SUPs from one of the city’s local outfitters or schedule a guided tour. Want a taste of local cuisine? Hit the Pitt County Brew & ‘Cue Trail, a self-guided tour of local breweries and BBQ spots. Grab a PassPork from any of the stops on the trail, visit one of the award-winning craft breweries. Also tempting is the best of Eastern N.C. barbecue—the world-famous B’s BBQ, Skylight Inn Barbecue and more.

Root For the Home Teams

Visitors are encouraged to check out Greenville’s local sports scene. This is a town that loves friendly competition and has something going on every season. Greenville is home to the Little League Softball World Series in August. Throughout the year, cheer on the ECU Pirates, Greenville’s local university baseball and football teams with a die-hard fan base. In the spring and summer, catch a game with local teams: the Greenville United Bucks, a semi-pro soccer team in the National Premier Soccer League; or the Greenville Yard Gnomes, a new Coastal Plain League collegiate wood bat team.
