IndyCar Series Extends TV, Streaming Deal With NBC
NBC will air 13 races in 2022 with remaining races on USA Network, Peacock
Posted On: July 20, 2021 By :The IndyCar Series will remain on NBC Sports and its affiliated channels in a multiyear extension of a media rights agreement that covers both broadcast and streaming coverage of the NTT IndyCar Series, including the Indianapolis 500.
NBC Sports will continue to be the exclusive home of the Indianapolis 500 and will provide coverage of all IndyCar races, qualifying, practices and Indy Lights races. The 2022 series will have 13 races broadcast on NBC, with the remaining races on USA Network and Peacock Premium. Telemundo Deportes will provide Spanish-language coverage of the season-opening race, the Indianapolis 500 and the season finale.
Peacock will stream all races on NBC and USA Network and will continue as the streaming home of qualifying and practices sessions, Indy Lights races and event replays. Peacock will stream two races exclusively.
NBC Sports is off to its most-watched IndyCar season ever through the first nine races of 2021, with viewership up 30 percent versus comparable coverage in 2020. NBC has broadcast IndyCar races since 2009 when NBCSN became the cable home for the series, and NBC became the exclusive home for all races including the Indianapolis 500 in 2019.
