It will be the second time South Korea hosts the women’s championship and first since 2009 in Gangneung. South Korea has hosted 13 World Curling championships, as well as the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang and 2024 Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon.

“Korea have shown over a number of years that they are excellent partners in hosting World Curling events and I’m positive that they, along with the local organising committee, will host an outstanding event,” Korea Curling Federation’s president Sangho Han said, “We are honoured to host the 2025 LGT World Women’s Curling Championship. We will work hard to ensure that it stands out as a spectacular celebration of curlers from all around the world.”

The event’s dates will be March 15–23, 2025. Uijeongbu is the 23rd largest city out of 31 cities of Gyeonggi-do, north of Seoul. The world championship will also be the final qualifying points opportunity ahead of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milano-Cortina, Italy. By the end of the event, seven countries will have qualified for the women’s competition, joining host Italy. The final two Olympic berths will be decided at an Olympic Qualification Event in December 2025.
