L.A. Memorial Coliseum, SoFi Stadium to Host 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies

Coliseum will be first venue to host three Olympics in history

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood will host the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games, organizers confirmed on Thursday morning.

Thursday’s announcement follows updates to the Olympic venue plan and precedes updates to the Paralympic venue plan, reflecting a revision to the 2028 Paralympic Closing Ceremony location with all other Ceremonies remaining at their original venue designation.

On July 14, 2028, the Olympic Opening Ceremony will be shared between the LA Memorial Coliseum and the Stadium in Inglewood. The Closing Ceremony will take place on July 30, 2028, at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The Paralympic Opening Ceremony be at SoFi Stadium on August 15, 2028, with the Closing Ceremony at L.A. Memorial Coliseum on August 27, 2028.

The dual-venue Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games will make the Coliseum the first venue in history to host events in three Olympic Games. Built in 1923, it is the home stadium for the USC Trojans football team, hosted the first Super Bowl and in 2028 will host the track and field competition.

SoFi Stadium is the home for the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers, hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022 and will host several matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as well as the Super Bowl LXI in 2027. The stadium will host swimming events in 2028.
