World Gymnaestrada, the world’s largest gymnastics event, will be staged in Las Vegas from July 7–13, 2031, according to an announcement from World Gymnastics. This is the first time the event will be held outside of Europe.

The event is held every four years and features more than 20,000 athletes representing over 50 nations. It first took place in 1953 in Amsterdam and features non-competitive gymnastics performances and activities. This will be the 19th edition of the event.

Eight venues will serve as host sites, including T-Mobile Arena (home of the Vegas Golden Knights), the Las Vegas Convention Center and the MGM Grand Garden Arena. People of all ages and abilities will take part in an event meant to celebrate physical movement in general and gymnastics in particular.

“USA Gymnastics is honored and excited to bring the biggest and most inclusive gymnastics event in the world to Las Vegas,” said USA Gymnastics President and CEO Kyle Albrecht. “Growing and providing increased access to the sport of gymnastics is one of the strategic focuses of our organization – and what better way is there to elevate that mission than hosting the World Gymnaestrada.”

Other finalists included Helsinki, Finland, which hosted the event in 2015, and Antwerp, Belgium, which hosted the 2023 World Gymnastics Artistic World Championships.

“Las Vegas, in partnership with USA Gymnastics, is deeply honored to host the World Gymnaestrada in 2031, marking the first time this extraordinary event will both leave Europe and be staged in the United States,” said Janis Burke, who recently took over as chief sports officer of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “It is a privilege to welcome the world of gymnastics to Las Vegas, and we are confident our city and partners will deliver an exceptional experience for participants, families and visitors from around the globe.”

Lisbon, Portugal, will host the next World Gymnaestrada from July 11–17, 2027.
Last month, Louisville was announced as the host city of the 2028 USA Gymnastics Olympic Trials.
