LIV Golf Reveals 2024 Regular Season Format Changes

League has instituted several new format rules for the 2024 season

LIV Golf has released league format enhancements ahead of this week’s 2024 season-opening event at LIV Golf Mayakoba in Mexico.

LIV has instituted new rules effective for the 2024 season spanning across field size, counting scores, individual points distribution, season-long individual standings and qualification for the Team Championship.

“The competition updates for 2024 reflect a natural evolution of the LIV Golf League format and illustrate our commitment to further enhancing an exciting product for the players and the fans,” said LIV Golf Senior Vice President of Competition Management David Benne. “League leadership will continue to work with our world-class players and teams to strengthen LIV Golf competition as we move the sport into the future. We’re looking forward to the league’s season opener this week and a thrilling year ahead.”
The competition field includes 54 players, including 13 teams (4 players each) and 2 wild card players. Each team’s top three scores count for rounds 1 and 2. All four scores will now count for each team in the final round of each event. Individual points will again be awarded to the top-24 finishers in each event. The top 12 teams following the 13th regular season event will be seeded. The team that finishes in 13th place will not compete but will still attend.

LIV Golf League competition will again kick off at El Camaleón Golf Course in Mayakoba, Mexico, site of last season’s opener. Also returning as host venues: The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide, Australia; the Real Club Valderrama in Andalucía, Spain; the Serapong course at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore; and The Old White course at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, from August 16–18.

The 2024 regular season schedule will also include Las Vegas Country Club, located in the heart of Las Vegas, which will host the first U.S.-based event of the season from February 8–10. Other U.S. stops include Trump National Doral in Miami from April 5–7; the Golf Club of Houston from June 7–9, the tour’s first stop in the state of Texas; and The Grove in Nashville hosts the tour from June 21–23.

In March, LIV Golf travels to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from March 1–3 before visiting Hong Kong Golf Club from March 8–10. In late July, LIV Golf will visit the United Kingdom for a third consecutive year, this time traveling to JCB Golf and Country Club in Staffordshire.  Details on LIV Golf’s 2024 Individual Championship and Team Championship events will be announced in the coming weeks.
