Major League Indoor Soccer Acquires NISL
Merger will take affect at start of 2024-2025 season
Posted On: April 1, 2024 By :The Major League Indoor Soccer has acquired the National Indoor Soccer League in a merger of two indoor leagues that will double the league’s size to 12 teams with a women’s division scheduled to start in the 2024–2025 season.
Both leagues will finish out their 2023-24 seasons as planned. The full roster of teams to compete in the 2024-25 season will be announced later this year.
The MLIS currently boasts six men’s teams: Cleveland Crunch, Omaha Kings, Grand Rapids Rapid City in Michigan, Colorado Bucks in Denver, Chicago Mustangs and Ohio Extreme in Lima. The NISL is made up of Albany Aces in Georgia, Central Florida Crusaders in Orlando, Fayetteville Fury in North Carolina, Magic City SC in Pelham, Alabama, Tampa Bay Strikers and Foundry FC in Columbus, Georgia.
Each of those clubs have both men’s and women’s teams. The MLIS recently welcomed Zoo City FC in Kalamazoo, Michigan, from the Premier Arena Soccer League as the inaugural team committed to the MLIS women’s division.
“This marks a pivotal moment for the MLIS,” said MLIS Commissioner Dominic Tourcette. “We are enthusiastic about our expansion plans, which include a southern division and a dedicated women’s league aimed at fostering soccer growth across various states.”
