The city of Gulf Shores, Alabama, will be adding 12 new outdoor lighted pickleball courts at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.
The pickleball courts will be located on the east side of Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium and will share the parking lot with the varsity baseball field. The sportsplex is an 100-acre facility that encompasses a high school football Stadium with college level lighting and full concessions and restroom facilities, an eight-lane polyurethane track and field with high jump area, plus baseball, soccer and softball fields.

Currently, players have been utilizing the gymnasium at the cultural center and the outdoor basketball courts for play, limiting court availability. With the addition of these new courts, residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to play on certified courts year-round. These courts will also provide sports tourism opportunities through tournaments and league play, further supporting the sport’s popularity.

Construction is set to begin in June with an estimated completion date of December. The project cost of $782,000 will be split between the city and Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism.
