SportsTravel has hired Paul Stevens as its senior editor, based in the United Kingdom — the first international editorial position in the brand’s nearly 30-year history. Stevens will play an integral role in international coverage for SportsTravel and represent the brand across the sports-events industry and at Northstar Meetings Group Sports Division events, including TEAMS Europe.

Stevens previously worked at B2B media brand International Hospitality Media for more than six years, where he rose to become editor of its ShortTermRentalz.com online publication. There, Stevens provided editorial coverage of the global short-term/vacation rental industry from the website’s launch in 2018. He also wrote news stories and features, hosted podcasts and webinars, and helped launch and host the brand’s annual Shortyz Awards for six years.

In his new position, Stevens will support all aspects of the Northstar Meetings Group Sports Division’s multi-media content, including providing original content for SportsTravel, newsletters, sponsored content projects, events and digital magazines. This will include writing news and features, hosting episodes of the SportsTravel Podcast and webinar series, contributing to other online projects, and overseeing the Bid Bowl to help industry leaders source new requests for proposals.

Stevens maintains a passion for travel and meeting new people and speaks both French and Spanish. Outside of work, he supports Portsmouth FC and Eastbourne Borough FC, but also enjoys racquet sports, running and swimming.

As senior editor, Stevens will play a significant role at Sports Division events, cultivating educational speakers and session topics and moderating sessions. He will also represent the brand at industry meetings, press conferences, sports events, press trips, awards dinners and other events, working alongside event organizers, destinations and suppliers to track the latest industry trends.

“I’m honoured to be joining SportsTravel and the wider Northstar Meetings Group,” Stevens said. “I cannot wait to get into the role to help strengthen SportsTravel’s global editorial coverage, and I am excited to connect with the major players and decision makers from the sports-event industry.”
