U.S. Figure Skating has selected Providence, Rhode Island, to host the 2020 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. The event will take place February 25–March 1, 2020, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

“We have a longstanding relationship with U.S. Figure Skating, having hosted this event in 2008 and 2015,” said John Gibbons, executive director of the Rhode Island Sports Commission. “I think it speaks to the quality of our destination and the caliber of our hospitality community that we are able to earn this lucrative repeat business.”

The Warwick Figure Skaters, a nonprofit organization offering instructional skating programs and synchronized skating teams, will serve as the host organization for the event. Practices will take place on its home rink, the Thayer/Warburton Arenas, in the Mickey Stevens Sports Complex in Warwick.

“The Warwick Figure Skaters are nationally known and are a great source of pride in our community,” said Mayor Joseph Solomon. “As the official practice complex for the skating championship, we look forward to hosting the skaters, their families, coaches and fans in Warwick, and showcasing the many dining, entertainment and lodging options our city has to

offer.”

The 2020 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships is expected to feature 90 teams competing across eight divisions of synchronized skating. The event is projected to have a direct spending impact of $2.8 million and bring 3,000 people to the area for nearly 5,000 hotel room nights in Providence and Warwick.
