Ruston, Louisiana, Complex Continues Construction
Phase two of 185-acre venue will be finished next year
Posted On: August 5, 2020 By :The city of Ruston, Louisiana, broke ground on the second phase of its sports complex with an indoor facility that will have six courts for basketball and volleyball anchoring spaces for office use and more.
“From the first I said, we advertise ourselves as the ‘Sports Capital of the South,’ and we really believe that because now when this facility is open, we will be able to host every kind of tournament that we’ve been wanting to have here in the city,” Mayor Ronny Walker told KNOE 8 News.
Phase One of the complex was finished in 2019; the second phase is expected to be completed and ready for opening by fall 2021.
In all, the complex is able to host soccer, baseball, tennis, cross country, softball, football and bowling at The Alley of Ruston. It hosted the Dixie Youth World Series upon its grand opening last year with three dozen teams participating. The 185-acre complex will have 36 fields (16 of them turf field) plus batting cages, a 6-acre pond, biodiversity reserve and playground areas as well as pavilion gathering spaces and meeting rooms.
