Singapore to Host Indoor Rowing Competition
The World Rowing event will mark third edition of the unique format
Posted On: September 19, 2025 By :The 2025 World Rowing VERSA Challenge Singapore will be staged November 29–30 under the umbrella of the Singapore Urban Sports + Fitness Festival 2025, organized by Sport Singapore.
The format, which mixes indoor rowing performance with functional fitness tests, will mark the third edition of the event after a 2023 debut in Mississauga, Canada, and a follow-up event in 2024 in Prague. The competition’s goal is to identify the ultimate all-round indoor rowing athlete.
The event will be staged alongside the World Rowing Super 60 Finals and the Singapore Indoor Rowing Championships, organized in collaboration with the Singapore Rowing Association and Adventurers.
The competition will bring together six of the world’s best men and six of the world’s best women athletes (with possible expansion), including:
- Qualifiers from the 2025 World Rowing Virtual Series, with the top three men and women from the fourth challenge (“Heartbeat”) securing invitations.
- The top finishers from the 2024 VERSA Challenge in Prague, seeking to strengthen their positions as most versatile indoor rowing athletes.
- Leading athletes from Singapore’s national team.
“The World Rowing VERSA Challenge is where power, endurance, and versatility collide,” said Filip Ljubicic, chair of the World Rowing Indoor Rowing Commission. “Following Prague’s breakthrough, Singapore will bring VERSA into a festival setting, combining elite sport with a vibrant urban energy. It’s an event designed for athletes and fans alike.”
