Super League Triathlon will visit the United States for the first time during its 2020 season when it goes to Tempe, Arizona, for its third of five qualifiers, May 22–24.

The event will take part at Tempe Town Lake, then take to bike and run courses which weave their way around Tempe Beach Park. Tempe has experience organizing triathlon events, having held the inaugural Ironman Arizona in 2005.

“Triathlons are a focus for Tempe and we are very excited to host the Super League Triathlon here in 2020,” said Brian McCartin, president and chief executive officer of the Tempe Tourism Office. “We are thrilled that the city has been chosen to host the first Super League event in the United States. The combination of Tempe Town Lake, sunny Arizona weather and a community that embraces special events make our city the perfect place for these amazing athletes to achieve greatness.”

Alongside the pro races, which will feature the Sprint Enduro on May 22 followed by the Triple Mix on May 23, age group competitors will closely mirror the pro format. Junior Sprint Enduro racing will also be on offer.

Other events during the 2020 Qualifier Series will be in Bali, Indonesia; Salinas, Ecuador; Poznan, Poland; and Ottawa, Canada.

America is the next obvious step for the Super League calendar,” said Super League Senior Events Director Michael Brown. “We can’t wait to bring SLT to the doorstep of some of the most engaged fans in the world, and Tempe is the perfect location to do that.”
