SportsTravel is proud to partner with the U.S. Olympic Committee to provide this update on Team USA events taking place this week. Below are upcoming events and information on how to learn more.

USA Baseball National Team Championships in Florida

Date: June 15–July 3

Venue: Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, spring training home of the Cardinals and Marlins in Palm Beach County, Florida, and FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, the spring training home of the World Series Champions Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals

Event description: The primary identification event (along with the USA Baseball National Team Championships in Arizona) for players to be considered for the 15U National Team, as well as the 14U, 16U and 17U National Team Development Programs. Split between Florida and Arizona versions, this event includes seven total tournaments (14U East and West, 15U East and West, 16U West and 17U East and West) featuring 350+ teams.

USA Baseball National Team Championships in Arizona

Date: June 15–July 7

Venue: Glendale, Goodyear, Peoria and Surprise, Arizona, at the spring training homes of the Dodgers, Indians, Padres, Rangers, Reds, Royals and White Sox

Event description: The primary identification event (along with the USA Baseball National Team Championships in Florida) for players to be considered for the 15U National Team, as well as the 14U, 16U and 17U National Team Development Programs. Split between Florida and Arizona versions, this event includes seven total tournaments (14U East and West, 15U East and West, 16U West and 17U East and West) featuring 350+ teams.

UIPM Modern Pentathlon Pan American Championships

Date: June 16–18

Venue: University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas

Event description: This is the modern pentathlon championship for North and South America. The competition is an open competition for all age groups.

USA Pentathlon U.S. National Championship

Date: June 18–24

Venue: University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas

Event description: The modern pentathlon U.S. National Championship is open this year to athletes from outside the United States. This is an age-group competition for athletes from 8 years old to the various masters divisions.

Number of athletes/participants: 180

Number of spectators (in venue and online): 2,500

Citi National Futures Championship,
presented by Harrow Sports

Date: June 18–26

Venue: Spooky Nook Sports, Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Event description: The Citi National Futures Championship, presented by Harrow Sports, is the premier championship event for USA Field Hockey’s Futures Program and is a highly attended event by college recruiters and USA Field Hockey high performance staff. The top 12 percent in the Futures Program will have the opportunity to compete at the National Futures Championship held annually in late June.

Number of athletes/participants: Roughly 680 athletes

USA Baseball Tournament of Stars

Date: June 19–23

Venue: USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina

Event description: The tournament is made up of the nation’s best baseball players that are international age‐eligible for 18U National Team consideration. Participants form the primary pool of talent from which USA Baseball selects its 18U National Team.

USA Baseball Futures Invitational

Date: June 21–24 (11U), June 28–July 1 (10U)

Venue: Hosted at the USA Baseball National Training Complex and adjoining Thomas Brooks
Park in Cary, North Carolina

Event description: Elite youth championship events, exclusively reserved for top 10U and 11U teams and athletes

Number of athletes/participants: 32 teams (16 each at the 10U and 11U age levels)

Streamed/Broadcast Information: Eight games of the 11U Futures Invitational will be streamed live on USABaseball.com and Facebook.com/USABaseball, including the gold and bronze medal games. The 11U Futures Invitational Home Run Derby (June 22) will also be streamed live on USABaseball.com and Facebook.com/USABaseball.


USA Softball Men’s Masters Fast Pitch National Championship

Date: June 22–24

Venue: USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Event description: The best play in Oklahoma City at the “Softball Capital of the World.” The USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex will welcome teams in the Men’s 40‐Over and 50‐Over division to compete for a National Championship.

Number of athletes/participants: 5+ teams (15 per team average)

Number of spectators (in venue and online): Roughly 1,000

When is the event up for bid again?: The 2020 Men’s Masters Fast Pitch National Championship is available for bid now. Interested cities are asked to work with their respective USA Softball Local Association for information on how to bid on this event. 2018 USA Synchro U.S. Junior Olympic Championships

Date: June 22–30

Venue: Miami University Aquatic Center, Oxford, Ohio

Event description: This is the world’s largest synchronized swimming competition, with 1,100 athletes competing over a nine‐day period. There are four different age groups that compete for titles—ranging in age from 9 to 19.

Number of athletes/participants: 1,100 athletes

Number of spectators (In venue and online): About 2,500 spectators and almost 40,000 livestream views are anticipated. Last year, there were more than 37,000 live views of the event webcast and the event brings in an estimated economic impact of more than $1.13 million.

18th Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships

Date: June 23–24

Venue: Ski Chaste, Axis, Alabama

Event description: Some of the world’s top junior water ski athletes will compete for titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall at the two‐round, world‐record capability event. The Junior U.S. Open features Junior Men and Junior Women (ages 17 to 21) and Boys and Girls divisions (ages 16 and under).

Number of athletes/participants: 50 to 100
