Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment
Posted On: August 21, 2014 By :Tim Leiweke has announced that he will leave his role as president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment on June 20, 2015, or if a successor is appointed sooner. He plans to pursue a goal of owning and operating his own business, according to a press release announcing his departure.
“Under Tim’s leadership, MLSE has made a number of key moves to strengthen our organization on the path to championship success,” said MLSE chairman Larry Tanenbaum. “We look forward to working closely with Tim to build on this foundation and further accelerate our momentum as we seek a new leader for MLSE.”
MLSE owns several professional sports teams, including the NBA’s Raptors, the NHL’s Maple Leafs, MLS’ Toronto FC and the AHL’s Marlies. Leiweke joined the company in June 2013 after leaving his position as president and CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group in Los Angeles.
“It’s an honor to lead MLSE, a world-class organization in a city and a country so passionate about sports,” Leiweke said. “But with new opportunities on the horizon, it’s time for me to begin the transition from sports and entertainment executive to entrepreneur.”
