Tunisia Locks in Monterrey Base Camp for 2026 FIFA World Cup
Tunisia will play its first two Group F World Cup matches in Monterrey, Mexico, at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Posted On: March 12, 2026 By :Tunisia’s Men’s National Soccer Team has secured a team base camp training site in Monterrey, Mexico, for the duration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The national team will set up its base camp at El Barrial Training Center, the training facilities of Liga MX club C.F. Monterrey (otherwise known as Rayados de Monterrey), the women’s team (Rayadas) and their youth squads, in the municipality of Santiago, Nuevo León.
No details have yet been provided about the team’s expected accommodation facilities where it will stay between matches and training sessions.
Located around 30 to 40 minutes south of Monterrey’s city center, the training center includes multiple natural grass soccer pitches, a modern gym, medical and rehabilitation areas, dressing rooms and administrative offices.
Its high-altitude location and close proximity to the BBVA Stadium — the venue for Tunisia’s opening two matches in the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup — made it the ideal base camp setting for the national team.
Monterrey specifically will host four matches at the tournament, including three games in the group stage and one Round-of-32 match. Prior to that, it will also stage matches in the intercontinental Play-Off Tournament alongside Guadalajara to determine two more final qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, South Korea and Colombia have already confirmed team base camp training sites in Guadalajara, while Mexico and Uruguay will also be based in the country during the competition.
The news was confirmed by Monterrey Host City Manager Alejandro Hütt in a video interview uploaded to social media by La Afición.
Tunisia will take its place in Group F at the World Cup, beginning with two games in Monterrey on June 14 and June 20 against a UEFA Play-off Path winner (either Ukraine, Sweden, Poland or Albania) and Japan respectively. It will round out its group stage campaign against the Netherlands in Kansas City on June 25.
