The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee has named Kate Hartman as its chief communications officer in charge of leading the organization’s communications initiatives.

Hartman most recently served as the vice president, strategic communications, North America for the Coca-Cola Company. There, she oversaw all internal and external communications for the company’s flagship market, including brand and business, crisis and reputation, and employee and leadership.

Hartman also has extensive experience leading the communications strategy, management and implementation for Coca-Cola’s activation of Olympic Games London 2012, Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016, as well as the 2014 FIFA World Cup and Special Olympics 2015 and 2017 World Games.

“I have always had a deep love and respect for the Olympic and Paralympic movements and athletes and it is a true honor to have been tapped for this role,” said Hartman. “Through my work at Coca-Cola, I’ve seen firsthand the positive influence and impact the Olympic and Paralympic Games has on athletes, host countries and billions of fans globally.”

Hartman will report to Katie Bynum, chief strategy and growth officer, and work closely with USOPC Chief Executive Officer Sarah Hirshland to integrate stakeholder engagement and maximize support of Team USA. Hartman currently resides in Atlanta with her husband, David, and their two children, Charlotte and JD. She will continue to work in Atlanta when she officially begins her role with the USOPC on May 10.
