U.S. Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati has been elected to the FIFA Executive Committee following a vote at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football Congress in Panama City, Panama. Gulati will serve a four-year term as one of three representatives from the confederation.

“The game is growing tremendously in our region both on and off the field, and I hope to do my part to continue to expand the development of the game for both CONCACAF and FIFA,” said Gulati, who has served as president of U.S. Soccer since 2006 and will continue in the role.

Gulati brings 30 years of experience to the position. He had previously served as executive vice president and chief international officer at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and was a member of the U.S. World Cup bid committee in the 1980s that helped bring the event to the United States for the first time.
