USA Fencing Bringing Summer Nationals to Salt Lake City in 2027

More than 6,000 athletes will take part in the 10-day competition at the Salt Place Convention Center

It is estimated that the Summer Nationals will generate $8.4 million in economic impact for Salt Lake City, boosting hotels, restaurants and shops.

“Few cities know how to welcome the world the way Salt Lake City does,” said USA Fencing CEO Phil Andrews. “There is Olympic history in this town, from the 2002 Winter Games to the 2034 Games on the horizon, and our members are going to feel that energy the moment they arrive. Summer Nationals is the heartbeat of our community. It is where a seven-year-old who just started their fencing journey competes under the same roof as an 89-year-old who has loved this sport for a lifetime. We can’t wait to bring everyone together in Salt Lake City, and we hope you’ll join us.”

USA Fencing Events in Salt Lake City

Recent USA Fencing events to be hosted in Salt Lake City include the 2026 Absolute Fencing Gear FIE Sabre World Cup in January 2026 and the 2025 USA Fencing North American Cup last October.

“From the 2002 Winter Games to 2034 and beyond, Utah’s Olympic and Paralympic legacy continues to help fuel our momentum as The State of Sport,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. “We look forward to welcoming the USA Fencing Summer Nationals to Utah and showcasing the experience and hospitality that have made our state a premier destination for major sporting events.”

“Salt Lake is thrilled to welcome the world’s largest fencing tournament to our destination,” says Sports Salt Lake Chief Sports Officer Clay Partain. “We have built a fantastic relationship with USA Fencing over the years, and we are proud to continue supporting them as a world-class host for championship events. The Salt Palace Convention Center, hotels, restaurants and entire hospitality community are fully prepared and eager to welcome these incredible athletes and their families back to the city.”

USA Fencing at LA28

In May, it was announced that USA Fencing would open its Maison d’Escrime (French for “house of fencing”) at the Biltmore Los Angeles during the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will serve as a gathering spot for Team USA athletes, families, donors, sponsors and guests throughout both Games.

It was the first sport-specific hospitality house to be announced by a U.S. national governing body for the 2028 Games and it will be invitation-only. Fencing competitions will take place roughly one mile away at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

At the beginning of the year, USA Fencing also partnered with the World Fencing League to grow fencing in the United States and globally by connecting elite competition with increased access and participation at the grassroots level.

The 2027 Summer Nationals will be open to the public and free for spectators. Additional details, including the competition schedule and registration information, will be announced in due course.
