USA Lacrosse Chief Executive Officer Marc Riccio has signed a new contract that runs until 2029, which includes the sport’s return to the Olympic Summer Games in 2028.

Riccio, a former Hofstra lacrosse player and longtime National Football League executive, has served as the chief executive officer of USA Lacrosse since 2021. USA Lacrosse had more than 66,000 youth members in the 7–9 age category in 2024, the largest total in the organization’s history for that group.

“Marc has demonstrated exceptional leadership in guiding USA Lacrosse over the past several years with vision, steadiness and an unwavering commitment to our mission,” said Sarah Bullard McDaniel, chair of the USA Lacrosse Board of Directors. “Under his leadership, the organization has not only strengthened its foundation but has also built powerful partnerships across the sport that are uniting stakeholders around shared goals for growth.”

On the field, for the first time in more than two decades, the U.S. is ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in every discipline of the sport and has won five World Lacrosse championships during Riccio’s tenure.

“I truly am humbled and honored,” said Riccio. “I’m having fun and I really do love all of the challenges this opportunity presents. I enjoy working with the various groups within the sport. Our staff leadership team is in a great place and the board working relationship is fantastic and high performing. I’m incredibly bullish on our future and grateful for those that came before us to put us in this position.”

USA Lacrosse was recognized by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee as part of its Affiliate Organizations Council in 2023 and is on the pathway to becoming an official national governing body as the Olympics draw nearer.

“At a time when lacrosse is poised to take its biggest stage in the 2028 Olympics, Marc’s ability to anchor our work in expanding participation, advancing our role as the sport’s national governing body, and growing the commercial strength of USA Lacrosse in support of enhancing our mission and impact ensures that we are well-positioned for this historic moment and beyond,” McDaniel said.
