World Archery Moves Event From Florida to Mexico

First leg of 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup will take place in Puebla next April

World Archery has announced that the Mexican city of Puebla will host the opening stage of the 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup, replacing the previously scheduled U.S. stop in Haines City, Florida.

World Archery cited numerous reasons as to why Florida would not be hosting in 2026, stating, “the inaugural edition of this event did not meet the expectations of teams or athletes, struggled with rising costs, and was unable to secure significant domestic buy-in outside of strong support from Visit Florida, the regional tourist office.”

The organization said following stakeholder feedback, “in order to protect the quality and integrity of the Hyundai Archery World Cup,” an agreement was made between the event rights holder and World Archery Mexico to move the tournament to Puebla. World Archery also cited a lack of applications from United States destinations in the last bidding cycle (2025–2027) as an issue in finding a host site.

The Puebla event is scheduled for April 7–12. Stages in Shanghai, Antalya (Turkey) and Madrid remain on the calendar. Mexico will also host the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final next season, which celebrates its 20th anniversary and was the site for the first edition of the World Cup Final when it took place at the Mayapan pyramids in Yucatan in 2006.

“We‘re proud to be bringing not one but two Hyundai Archery World Cup events to Mexico in this historic upcoming 20th season for the international tour,” said Gabriel Ramos, World Archery Mexico president. “My thanks go to Rommel Pacheco at the Mexican Ministry of Sports and the governor of Puebla for taking on the extra challenge, and we can’t wait to welcome the world’s best archers to our country in 2026.”

Placing a major international tournament in the U.S. was seen as vital to World Archery’s ultimately successful campaign to add compound to the programme of the next Olympics. Auburndale, Florida, hosted the first leg of the 2025 Archery World Cup from April 8–13.
