World Table Tennis Announces United States Headquarters

Southern California venue will also be home to the International Table Tennis Federation U.S. office

World Table Tennis will establish its first permanent base in Southern California which will be a global training center, home to the International Table Tennis Federation’s U.S. office and World Table Tennis Management Group’s global headquarters.

The organization held a ceremony in Los Angeles on July 15, one day after the official three-year countdown to the 2028 Olympic Summer Games began. The WTT U.S. Office, ITTF U.S. Office and the WTMG Global Office will commence operations by end of 2025, while the training center is set to open its doors in the second quarter of 2026.

“By establishing a base in America, we’re creating new opportunities for emerging talent and deepening our investment in grassroots and elite development alike,” said Petra Sörling, International Table Tennis Federation president. “With our sights on the LA 2028 Olympic Games, this initiative will help us connect with a wider audience and inspire the next generation of players in one of the most dynamic sporting landscapes in the world.”

The new center will serve as a training base for players and a place for international athletes to prepare ahead of the Olympic Games. Table tennis at LA28 will feature six medal events for the first time in Olympic history.

“For us, it’s about delivering an unforgettable Olympic event,” said Niccolo Campriani, LA28 vice president of sports. “For ITTF, this is a rare opportunity to elevate the sport across the U.S. As LA28 draws nearer, we look forward to deepening our collaboration with ITTF to ensure table tennis leaves a lasting legacy.”

The ITTF recently held an event in Las Vegas and the USA Table Tennis U.S. Open Championships will be December 16–21 in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay Convention Center, one year after almost 1,500 players competed from 42 states and 19 countries.

“The U.S. is the most competitive sports market in the world and we’re not just showing up, we’re showing up with purpose,” said Steve Dainton, ITTF and WTT chief executive officer. “This new hub is the start of a long game to embed our sport in the American landscape, fuel global growth and shape the next era of World Table Tennis.”
