X Games Hires Tom Kiley to Lead Global Expansion
The former NFL executive will have host city relations as a main responsibility
Posted On: May 20, 2026 By :X Games is planning for a significant event expansion and has hired a former NFL executive to help get there. The action sports series that has been revived in recent years by Olympian Jeremy Bloom has announced the hiring of Tom Kiley as senior vice president of global market development, a key leadership role responsible for driving the company’s global expansion strategy, securing host city partnerships, and scaling MoonPay X Games League (XGL) worldwide.
In the new role, Kiley will oversee all host market strategy, including city partnerships, bid processes, economic frameworks and long-term market development. He will also work closely with league operations, event production and commercial teams to deliver the league’s events.
Kiley joins X Games from the National Football League, where he spent more than 10 years involved in developing and executing the league’s international growth strategy. Most recently, he served as senior director of global market development, leading host city identification and bid processes for the NFL’s International Games. There, he rewrote the NFL’s approach to collaborative partnerships with national and city governments, alongside venues, soccer clubs and leagues, and secured multi-stakeholder partnerships around the world. He also helped initiate key international development programming that included the launch of the NFL Academy and the NFL’s first international foundation.
“Tom is one of the most experienced leaders in global sports expansion,” said Bloom, CEO of X Games. “He’s built markets, structured partnerships, and delivered world-class events at scale. As we launch the MoonPay X Games League and expand globally, his experience is directly aligned with where we’re going.”
Young Demographic at Play
Kiley’s appointment comes as X Games evolves from standalone events into a season-long, team-based global league. With the debut of XGL in 2026, X Games is attempting to build a more scalable model centered around host cities, long-term partnerships and deeper fan engagement across key international markets. XGL has a young fan base and athlete roster, with nearly half of the 40 athletes selected in the inaugural XGL Summer Draft under the age of 21. X Games Aspen in January saw a 102 percent year-over-year increase in viewership among the youngest demographic.
“I’ve spent my career helping to develop events internationally, and what excites me is that X Games is building something authentic,“ said Kiley. “There’s strong momentum behind the league, powered by superstar athletes and a truly passionate global fanbase. I can’t wait to get started, bring X Games to more cities and supporters around the world, and build lasting partnerships in each market.”
