Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism Announces Sports Alliance

Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism in Washington has formed the Bellingham Whatcom County Sports Alliance as a way to further market the area’s sports and outdoor recreation opportunities beyond the local market.

The Alliance will operate as a department of Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism with dedicated staff, resources and web presence. It will work with local stakeholders and lodging properties to establish room blocks for teams, participants and families as events come into the region.

The bureau will work to raise awareness of the area as a destination for events and attract new business to our area. It will advocate for the development of new sports facilities as well as improvements to existing ones; promote existing sporting events; and continue building programs like the Bellingham Athlete Ambassador program, which sponsors local athletes who travel to destination races and compete locally.
