The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games has officially launched its volunteer recruitment program. Details on specific volunteer roles during the Games will be shared in 2026 as the program ramps up to 2028, but the organization is beginning the process to gauge interest from local residents who want to participate.
An LA28 Volunteer Program page has been established and is now accepting expressions of interest.
“We are not waiting until 2028 to tap into Los Angeles’ resilience, generosity and grit,” said LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover. “This unique initiative channels the spirit of volunteerism long before the Opening Ceremony, and we have the chance to create a model for future Host Cities, as well as a legacy for Los Angeles and the Games. Our hope is that this program can be a catalyst for Angelenos to give back to the city they love, unite across communities and help build a stronger city together.”
Delta Air Lines is a founding partner of the LA28 Games but will also serve as the presenting sponsor of the volunteer program.
“Delta is proud to stand alongside LA28 to launch a volunteer program that reflects the heart of Los Angeles and the spirit of service that defines our people,” said Alicia Tillman, chief marketing officer at Delta Air Lines. “We see this initiative as more than a pathway to the Games—it’s a powerful opportunity to uplift communities, foster connection, and leave a lasting legacy of unity and impact across the region.”
LA28 recently expanded its volunteer opportunities to Los Angeles area residents, staging pilot events in October with Shine LA and Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to prepare for scaling its volunteer efforts ahead of the LA28 volunteer program’s official launch.
“The Games would not be possible without the volunteers who are key in shaping the experience of fans and athletes alike,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “The volunteer program will be another step toward building greater community engagement around the Games. Through programs like this and our monthly Shine LA activations, we are bringing this city together in the spirit of the 2028 Games and building a foundation for future civic engagement.”
LA28 has also revealed a new custom emblem, which will serve as the official emblem for the LA28 Volunteer Program. With colorful shapes to represent collaboration and diversity, the design features a heart in a nod to volunteers who “embody kindness and selflessness in the name of the greater good.”
