Orlando is expected to host rounds of the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship at the Kia Center, the latest U.S. city announced as part of the international tournament that will be held in the United States and Canada.
Anaheim, California, was previously announced as the site of the finals at the Honda Center. Orlando’s agreement, which is contingent on coming to terms with FIVB and USA Volleyball, would mark the first time the city has hosted an international Olympic qualifier.
“On behalf of Chairman Caesar Lopez, the 138 members of our Board of Directors, and our regional partners including the City of Orlando/Orlando Venues, Orange County, Visit Orlando, the Florida Sports Foundation, and the Florida Region of USA Volleyball, we are excited to welcome this world-class event to the Kia Center and finalize the hosting agreement in the months ahead,” said Jason Seigel, president and CEO of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission. “As the world prepares for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, this historic tournament, which is being held in the United States and Canada for the very first time, marks an exciting milestone for the sport. We look forward to collaborating with FIVB, USA Volleyball, Volleyball Canada, and our colleagues in Anaheim to deliver an exceptional championship experience.”
The women’s championship will feature the top 32 teams in the world, with three teams qualifying for the 2028 Olympic Summer Games in Los Angeles. Three additional host cities (two from Canada) will be confirmed for the pool phase and round of 16.
The U.S. is currently ranked No. 7 in the world, with Canada is ranked No. 12.
