The USGA has selected SentryWorld, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to host the 2028 U.S. Senior Women’s Open and 2034 U.S. Senior Open Championships. The events will mark the fourth and fifth USGA championships held at the venue.
“We are excited to return to SentryWorld and the state of Wisconsin to conduct these two premier senior events,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA chief championships officer. “We know that SentryWorld will be a great test for these championship fields, and the community has always been incredibly supportive of the USGA. Sentry has been a great partner, and we know there will be enthusiastic support from the region and community for these two national championships.”
SentryWorld is a public, parkland course in central Wisconsin, developed by Sentry Insurance in 1982 as part of a sports complex that includes indoor tennis courts, banquet space and restaurants. The championship layout was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, who oversaw a major renovation in 2013 that was led by architects Bruce Charlton and Jay Blasi.
SentryWorld hosted its first USGA championship in 1986, the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links. The USGA returned in 2019 with the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. In 2023, it hosted the U.S. Senior Open.
“SentryWorld was built in part with championship golf in mind,” said Mike James, SentryWorld general manager. “The 2023 U.S. Senior Open showed that the course can challenge the best players in the world when called upon. Hosting two more USGA championships keeps our focus and attention on maintaining the best version of SentryWorld as possible.”
Wisconsin has hosted 18 USGA championships, most recently the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally at Erin Hills.
