Sports Facilities Companies to Manage Community Center in Nicholasville, Kentucky

The Sports Facilities Companies has been selected to manage the Nicholasville/Jessamine County Community Center, a new community recreation facility currently under construction in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

The partnership will support the center’s transition from construction to opening. The center, which is designed to bring residents together through sports, recreation, programs and community events, is projected to open in early 2027.

In addition, SFC has named Shagari Alleyne as the facility’s general manager. Alleyne will help lead pre-opening efforts and oversee the center’s daily operations, programming, team development, guest experience and community engagement once the facility opens.

“Launching a new community center is about creating the systems, programs and team needed to serve the community well from day one,” said SFC Executive Vice President Michael Kelly. “SFC is proud to support Nicholasville and Jessamine County with the operational expertise and management experience to build a strong foundation for the center’s long-term success.”

The 7’3″ Alleyne played college basketball at the University of Kentucky from 2003 to 2006 under Hall of Fame coach Tubby Smith and later played professionally both overseas and with the Harlem Globetrotters. His athletic career informed his approach to leadership, discipline, teamwork and program development.

“I am excited to help lead initiatives that empower the community and elevate the organization,” said Alleyne. “The Nicholasville/Jessamine County Community Center has the opportunity to become a place where people come together to play, learn, compete and build lasting connections, and I look forward to helping bring that vision to life.”

Community-First Asset

The community center, a longtime vision of Jessamine County Fiscal Court and the City of Nicholasville, is being developed as a community-first asset with space for local leagues, youth recreation, multi-sport programming, community gatherings and special events. The facility is expected to feature four hardwood basketball courts, an indoor walking track, concessions, four flexible community rooms and additional space to support a range of programs and activities.

SFC’s management work will include operational development, staff recruitment and training, programming support, marketing and booking systems, event and business development, financial reporting, team development and day-to-day facility operations.
