The 2026 International Handball Federation Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships have been awarded to the Croatian Handball Federation with the tournament scheduled to be in Zagreb.
This will mark the first time Croatia hosts the championships and the sixth time the event will take place in Europe following previous editions in Spain (2008), Türkiye (2010), Hungary (2016), Russia (2018) and Greece (2022).
The tournament was established in 2004, taking place every two years. The 2024 event was in China in 2024 with Croatia winning the men’s championships and Portugal claiming the women’s title.
The Croatian men are one of only two countries to have participate in every world championship. The 2026 Beach Handball World Championships’s qualification details and participating nations will be announced at a later date.
