The East-West Shrine Game will now be called the East-West Shrine Bowl when it is played in January for the 95th year.

The 2020 game will be at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The event benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children and its mission to provide advanced care for children with specialized medical needs.

“As our flagship sporting event that has supported Shriners Hospitals for Children for nearly 100 years, we are proud to announce the name change to East-West Shrine Bowl going forward,” said Jeffrey L. Sowder, chairman of the board of directors of Shriners Hospitals for Children. “Through efforts like this event and others, we have been able to treat and help more than 1.4 million children since 1922, regardless of the families’ ability to pay.”

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has inducted 77 former players from the game. Among those who have gone on to illustrious NFL careers are Tom Brady, Walter Payton, Brett Favre, Gale Sayers, John Elway, Dick Butkus, Roger Staubach and Mike Ditka.

The week leading to the game involves charitable activities and allows college senior football players the opportunity to showcase their talent to more than 300 NFL scouts, coaches and agents.
