The English Men’s National Soccer Team will be based in Kansas City, Missouri for the duration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Swope Soccer Village, one of the training facilities of MLS side Sporting Kansas City, will be the team base camp training site for the Three Lions during the tournament. It was identified as the preferred base camp location in January 2025 following an extensive search, according to the English FA.

The complex, located in Swope Park, is now the current home of MLS Next Pro club Sporting Kansas City II and Sporting Kansas City Academy, which is part of MLS NEXT. It has hosted a number of national and club sides since it opened in 2007, including Manchester City, Manchester United and NWSL and USL Championship teams.

England’s training site features three natural grass fields and six synthetic turf fields in addition to a 7,000-square-foot indoor space with locker rooms, offices, gym, training room, equipment room and classroom.

The four-star boutique hotel The Inn at Meadowbrook on the outskirts of Kansas City will be home to the England team during rest and non-training periods between matches.

Kansas City Proves Popular

Argentina have already confirmed that it too will be based in Kansas City during the World Cup, while the Netherlands and Algeria are also set to join them in the city according to reports. Its popularity is believed to come down to its central location in the United States, which is one of three countries hosting the event, along with Canada and Mexico.

“Over the past 15 years this region has invested more than $650 million in soccer infrastructure, and that level of commitment is exactly why Kansas City has earned its reputation as the Soccer Capital of America,” said Sporting Kansas City President and CEO Jake Reid. “Having World Cup champions in Argentina and England choose Sporting Kansas City training facilities as their base camp for FIFA World Cup 2026 is a tremendous honor that reinforces that Kansas City is not only at the heart of the game in this country but also a premier destination for elite international soccer.”

Winners of the 1966 FIFA World Cup on home soil, England is currently ranked fourth in the FIFA world rankings. The Three Lions will be expected to go far in the tournament, having become the first European team in history to not concede a single goal during the qualification phase.

It has also been announced that England will face New Zealand (June 6) and Costa Rica (10 June) in friendly matches in June as part of a pre-World Cup preparation camp in south Florida.

Led by manager Thomas Tuchel, England will begin its World Cup Group L campaign against Croatia on June 17 in Dallas. Next up is a match in Boston versus Ghana on June 23 and finally a stop in New York New Jersey to face Panama on June 27.
