Northstar Meetings Group has announced that the 2020 EsportsTravel Summit—the only event of its kind for esports tournament and event organizers—has been rescheduled to November 18–20 in Arlington, Texas. The Summit had been scheduled for August 11–13. Concurrent with the date change, the EsportsTravel Summit announced a new five-year partnership agreement with venue design firm Populous.

The EsportsTravel Summit is being hosted by the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Arlington Sports Commission. Existing registrations for the Summit will automatically be transferred to the rescheduled dates. Attendees at the EsportsTravel Summit will convene at the 100,000-square-foot Esports Stadium Arlington, which is the largest stadium for live competitive videogaming in North America and was designed by Populous.

“The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, Arlington Sports Commission and Esports Stadium Arlington have been world-class partners as we’ve worked to reschedule the Summit to later in the year,” said Timothy Schneider, founder of the EsportsTravel Summit and chairman of the Sports Division of Northstar Travel Group, which publishes SportsTravel and also organizes the annual TEAMS Conference & Expo. “And the multi-year sponsorship support from Populous during these difficult times shows their unwavering commitment not only to the EsportsTravel Summit but also to the future of esports events and dedicated esports venues,” said Schneider.

“Populous has been involved with the EsportsTravel Summit since its launch in Orlando in 2017,” said Brian Mirakian, senior principal at Populous. “Esports Stadium Arlington is a perfect venue for the EsportsTravel Summit this year as it was designed with flexibility for all types of events. The state-of-the-art facility will create a diverse, unparalleled experience for all who plan to attend,” said Mirakian.

Roger Dow

The educational program for the EsportsTravel Summit will feature Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, who will provide his insights on the state of the events industry. Dow is the public face of the U.S. travel industry and plays a central role in representing the interests of the nearly 16 million Americans employed in all segments of the travel industry.

The United States eSports Federation, which is recognized as the national governing body of esports by the International Esports Federation, will also be featured on the program and will be holding its inaugural Annual Meeting at the EsportsTravel Summit.

Vlad Marinescu

“We have been working closely with the EsportsTravel Summit as they’ve arranged these later dates,” said Vlad Marinescu, president of the International Esports Federation. “We are confident these November dates will allow for even more of our members to participate in this year’s Summit as we gather with the goal of uniting the key esports stakeholders.”

“We are committed to making the 2020 EsportsTravel Summit the place where esports- and travel-industry professionals can kick-start the esports events industry,” said Schneider.
