Greater Orlando Sports Commission Promotes Quartet

Destination preparing to host Special Olympics USA Games later this year

The Greater Orlando Sports Commission has promoted four of its staff members to new positions.

Jennifer Lastik has been promoted to executive vice president, having joined the organization in 2007. Lastik graduated from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania as well as West Virginia University and interned at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Lastik serves on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Orlando Partnership and the Greater Orlando chapter of WISE (Women in Sports & Events). 

Kyle Sturley will move up to senior director of marketing, communications and special events. A graduate of Michigan State University and Old Dominion, she interned at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex followed by three years with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference before joining Greater Orlando Sports in late 2013. Sturley is co-chair of the marketing and communications committee for the Greater Orlando chapter of WISE (Women in Sports & Events). 

Shalisa Griffin will be the senior director of business development and events. Griffin joined GO Sports in 2017. Griffin graduated from Delaware State University with a bachelor’s degree in sport management and went on to receive dual master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida’s DeVos Sport Business Management Program. After graduating from UCF, Griffin completed the NCAA Postgraduate Internship Program which led her to Orlando and in 2020, Griffin was appointed as chair of the Greater Orlando Youth Sports Task Force.

Nolan McDonald has been promoted to corporate partnerships and events coordinator. McDonald is an Orlando native who received his B.S. in Sport Management from the University of Florida. He interned with Greater Orlando Sports in 2019 and 2021.

Orlando will host the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in June with more than 5,500 athletes and coaches participating. It is also among the cities bidding to host games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
