Open water swimming series Oceanman will debut in the United States with an event at Haulover Park in Miami, scheduled for November 14–16.
Oceanman USA will offer a full range of race formats for swimmers of all levels. The Oceanman 10K is the series’ flagship long-distance race and qualifier for the World Final, while the Half Oceanman is a 5K challenge open to amateur and competitive swimmers alike. The event will also have a 1–2 kilometer sprint race and the Oceankids 500-meter competition for ages 7–14.
“Our mission with Oceanman USA is to inspire a new generation of swimmers to embrace open water,” said Lenny Krayzelburg, four-time Olympic gold medalist and premier event partner of Oceanman USA. “Miami represents the energy and spirit needed to build a lasting open water community. Its vibrant culture, diverse population, and strong connection to the ocean create the ideal environment to grow this movement and promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all.”
The Oceanteams is a relay race for teams of three people each swimming 500 meters. All races will feature multiple age and ability categories, including juniors, masters, and athletes with disabilities.
Oceanman has events in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The organization is led by Krayzelburg along with Dmytro Kachurovskyy, FINA referee and former president of the Ukrainian Swimming Federation and Sergiu Gherman, a Miami-based attorney and endurance sports advocate.
The development of Oceanman USA is supported by Casey Taker, vice presidents of operations, and Matt Dunn, vice president of business development.
“We are excited to bring Oceanman to the United States,” said Fermin Egido, chief executive officer of Oceanman. “The U.S. has a vibrant swimming culture, and we believe Oceanman will resonate deeply with athletes looking for new challenges and meaningful experiences in open water. This is a significant milestone for our global community.”
