Real Salt Lake Stadium to Serve as Bosnia’s FIFA World Cup Base Camp Site
The Bosnian national team will train in St. Louis, Missouri, before heading to Sandy, Utah
Posted On: May 14, 2026 By :The Bosnian Men’s National Soccer Team will prepare for FIFA World Cup matches at the Real Salt Lake Stadium in Sandy, Utah, after it was confirmed as the team’s base camp training site for this summer’s tournament.
It has been confirmed that Bosnia-Herzegovina will first train in St. Louis, Missouri, for a pre-World Cup base camp and international friendly against Panama, before flying to Toronto for their opening game against co-host Canada. The team will then head to their Utah site to prepare for their final two group stage games and potentially further into the tournament.
In St. Louis, Bosnia-Herzegovina will train privately at St. Louis City SC’s Energizer Park for a six-day training camp, as well as using the club’s Washington University Orthopedics High Performance Center training facility. The city is symbolic to the Bosnian community because tens of thousands of refugees from the country fled to the United States, and St. Louis, in the 1990s to escape the Bosnian war.
In Sandy, the team is expected to train at both the Real Salt Lake Stadium (also known as America First Field), home to Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake and the National Women’s Soccer League’s Utah Royals, and the Real Salt Lake training facility in Herriman. The former opened in 2008 and has a capacity of 20,213 for soccer matches, while the latter offers three full-sized outdoor fields.
“Our goal was to reduce the number of flights and avoid additional fatigue due to time differences,” Head Coach Sergej Barbarez told a press conference as per the Sarajevo Times.
It represents Bosnia and Herzegovina’s second participation in the Men’s FIFA World Cup, having made its debut in 2014 in Brazil when it was eliminated in the group stage.
The Bosnian national team will compete in Group B at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, beginning against co-host Canada in Toronto on June 12. It will then head to Los Angeles (Inglewood) to face Switzerland on June 18 before coming up against Qatar in Seattle on June 24 to conclude the group stage campaign.
