On the vast Great Plains, communities rose out of determination and a strong work ethic, two qualities that also developed the region’s sports scene, which can boast its fair share of championship teams, athletes and venues. And a big plus to holding a sports event in the Heartland is its location—when participants are spread out across the nation, it pays to meet up in the middle. And with unique attractions and their noted hospitality, destinations in the Great Plains offer their very own slice of Americana.
