The Association of National Olympic Committees and members of the local organising committee have marked one year to go until the XXVIII ANOC General Assembly in Hong Kong, China, when the NOC network and international sports leaders will converge on the city.
The General Assembly will bring together the Olympic movement for three days of strategic discussions, celebration and collaboration to help shape the future of global sport.
It will represent a significant gathering of the Olympic family in 2026, with more than 200 NOCs joined by representatives from the IOC, international federations, organising committees for the Olympic Games, and other key Olympic Movement stakeholders.
As an Elective General Assembly, NOCs will elect its leadership for 2027–2030.
The programme will consist of two days of ANOC General Assembly meetings, followed by a day of ANOC Special Theme Sessions exploring key challenges and opportunities facing NOCs and the broader Olympic community. The first day of the General Assembly will conclude with the ANOC Awards, honouring the outstanding athletes and NOCs from the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Direct Economic Impact
The Hong Kong, China General Assembly follows the XXVII General Assembly in Cascais, Portugal. In total, it generated a direct economic impact of £2.47 million for the host city and region, according to ANOC.
“Hong Kong, China will provide an outstanding platform for the NOC family to unite and chart our path forward,” said ANOC President Robin Mitchell. “As an Elective General Assembly, our NOCs will choose the leadership for 2027–2030, ensuring ANOC continues to serve the needs of NOCs worldwide.
“The General Assembly remains our most important gathering — bringing together NOCs, the IOC, IFs and other partners to address the key challenges and opportunities facing our Movement. We look forward to three days of productive dialogue and celebration in this dynamic city.”
“One year from today, Hong Kong, renowned as Asia’s mega-event capital and a dynamic bridge between East and West, will host the XXVIII ANOC General Assembly 2026, said the Hon. Kenneth K. K. “We are delighted with how preparations are progressing,” said ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg. “The close cooperation with the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the LOC and local authorities is excellent.
“Along with the other key stakeholders, we are working as one team. This gives us great confidence that this will be an excellent General Assembly, which showcases the solidarity among NOCs and addresses the challenges and opportunities the Olympic movement will face in the coming years.”
