Inaugural Eco-Run 5K Walk Coming to Greater Puget Sound Region

The Greater Seattle Korean Association will hold its first sustainability-focused walk and community conservation event on Saturday, September 19, at Boxcar Park in Everett, Washington.

The Eco-Run 5K Walk for Sustainability and Conservation will take place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It will bring more than 30 ethnic and AANHPI communities from across the greater Puget Sound area together for a day of culture and celebration, including performances and activations representing multiple ethnic communities as well as sustainability education and community engagement booths.

Among the communities represented will be Korean, Filipino, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Latino, African, Indian, Somali, Taiwanese, Samoan, Tongan, and many others.

“The Eco-Run is more than a walk — it is a statement,” said Sam Sim, chairman of the board for the GSKA. “We are showing the world what community truly looks like. GSKA has always believed that the path to a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable future is walked together — and that is exactly what we are doing on September 19.”
Founded in 1967, the Greater Seattle Korean Association is a nonprofit community organization that serves the Korean American community and over 30 multicultural ethnic community partners across the region.

The event is being held in conjunction with the Indian Association of Washington and the Snohomish County Sports Commission.

“Walking side by side with Korean American, Filipino, Vietnamese, Latino, African, and so many other communities along the Everett Waterfront is a reminder that when diverse communities unite around a common purpose, the impact is truly extraordinary,” said Ram Sundar, president of the Washington Indian Association. “We look forward to building on this partnership for many years to come.”
